About AFWN
Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) is Africa’s leading platform for emerging and established fashion designers to showcase their creativity, celebrate African heritage, and connect with industry stakeholders.
Since its inception, AFWN has provided a global stage for African fashion talent, supporting designers, entrepreneurs, and creatives in gaining visibility, access to buyers, and business growth opportunities.
As a pioneer in promoting African-inspired fashion, we merge tradition with innovation, fostering sustainability, ethical fashion, and economic empowerment within the Nigerian and African fashion industries.
Through runway showcases, panel discussions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities, AFWN continues to be a driving force in shaping the future of African fashion.
Our Impact & Influence
Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN) was established in 2014 by Queen Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi as the sister event to Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL). The inception of AFWN was driven by the need to support emerging Nigerian designers and to strengthen the international competitiveness of Nigeria's fashion industry.
Since its launch, AFWN has become one of Africa's most celebrated fashion platforms, dedicated to showcasing and nurturing African-inspired design talent. The event serves as a powerful springboard for emerging African designers, connecting them to the global fashion industry and providing a prestigious stage for the rich and diverse cultures of Africa.
Over the years, AFWN has empowered over 1,000 designers, launching them into the fashion world and introducing their talents to international audiences. The platform is not only a celebration of African heritage and style but also a movement for social change and sustainable fashion.
Who We Represent
Our primary market is emerging African heritage designers and SMEs who are typically ignored by the major fashion events and, if not, are tokenised.
At AFWN, we make sure our designers are afforded the same promotional opportunities, access to buyers, and showcased in a world-class venue. We support and nurture the sustainable design and apparel manufacturing industry. Our goal is to make African-inspired fashion not only a high-street staple but also a force to rival established fashion houses.
Similarly, we make sure 90% of our workforce is made up of POC, fashion students, and marginalised communities, giving the experience of working for a major fashion showcasing event.
